About Teen Web Online Magazine
Teen Web Online Magazine is a teen issues web
site devoted to getting young people motivated to take action, while
building an interest in journalism and communications. Created
and founded by Billy Hallowell (at the age of 15) in 1999, the
website offers teenagers opportunities to get involved in their
communities through journalism, community activism and through a
variety of other methods.
Billy created Teen Web Online Magazine in
response to the Columbine massacre in Littleton, Colorado.
Since the creation of Teen Web, Billy has been speaking to teens his
age to help change their views and motivate them to take action in
their communities. Teen Web Online, along with Billy's
writings have been featured in national magazines such as COSMOgirl
and on national talk shows such as NBC's The John Walsh
Show.
In 2002 the Columbine Survivor Project was Teen
Web's first event. A two-day tour in Rochester, New York, the
Columbine Survivor Project open eyes and changed hearts. The
second Teen Web project was entitled, Peace Project 2003 and took
place on the beautiful river-side campus of The College of Mount
Saint Vincent in New York City in April of 2003. This event
has been an annual initiative, occurring each spring.
Each year Teen Web Online initiates various
youth projects with the help of organizations such as SHiNE and
Youth Venture. In 2004, Billy Hallowell launched Path-U-Find
Communications. Path-U-Find represents speakers, bringing them
around the nation to help initiate change in schools, communities
and other such venues.
