Anna Paterson

"When you’re trapped inside an eating disorder, it can at times feel like the “solution” to your problems. You may feel in control of your food intake, which seems like the only positive aspect of your life. Unfortunately when you have an eating disorder,

the reality is very different. The illness actually controls you and before long, you find yourself feeling terrified of food and gaining weight..."

Judy Sargent

"I suffered from severe anorexia nervosa for 10 years, was hospitalized 26 times, and landed myself in intensive care units on multiple occasions. You would never guess any of these things looking at me today. Right now, I am a registered nurse with a Master of Science Degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.  I am in the process of completing Doctoral Studies in Nursing at a major university...I have written a book about my descent into anorexia and the subsequent recovery process..."

Billy Hallowell

"It was always a struggle for me.  I weighed 200 pounds when I was in 8th and 9th grade.  People laughed, people made fun of me...it was tough.  Young people face a lot when it comes to peers and image.  For me and for my health I decided to lose the weight.  In 9th grade I lost over 40 pounds and it's been a struggle ever since.  I wish people could see that the inner is so much more important than the outer.  I went through a lot.  At times, even I forget that inner is more important.  We live in a society that judges us based on the way we look and it's just not right..."
